I know I haven't been here in forever and you are all tired of the earthquake post (especially Kate ;) )
So I am posting a quicky to get things moving again (maybe)
I ordered some books from Barnes and Noble and I needed a filler to get up to the dollar amount for free shipping. I ended up ordering the new They Might Be Giants album for kids Here Come the 123's It came with a bonus DVD and it is fabulous!!! The kids LOVE it and want to watch it all the time. Ady and Tayden have all the songs memorized and Ady sings it all day long! Dave and I love it too. The songs are so fun and clever and the videos are funny. We are big TMBG fans, but fan or no fan this is a great kids album. If you are going to get the album definitely look for the bonus pack with the DVD. The DVD is the best part!
Some books I have been reading (and loving)
Spookie series by Angie Sage (I read them first and then Dave read them to Kyler. He loved them.)
Septimus Heap series by Angie Sage. Our library does not have the 4th book, but I wanted to read it so badly that I just ordered it (from Barnes and Noble - thats what I was ordering when I threw in TMBG 123's) The 4th book, Queste, is the best so far. (Does anyone know if she is writing more books in this series?) They are in the Juvinile Fiction section, but they are great for adults too. I actually like them a bit better than the Harry Potter books because her style stays consistent throughout the series. (and age appropriate)
Ever, by Gail Carson Levine - I just love this author, but I would not recommend this book unless you are a fan. I loved the book, but there are a lot of theological issues. Its not for everyone, but is well written and enjoyable, especially if you are a fan of Fantasy books or mythology. Most of the other books by Levine are fairy tale. If you like Fairy tales you should check out some of her other books, especially Ella Enchanted, Fairest, and The Two Princesses of Bamarre
Cat's Eye Corner, by Terry Griggs is a very cleverly written book with a 10 year old boy as the main character. He is a very smart boy and the book is so well written. There are lots of clever plays on words and puns. It is very good. I am about to start the next book in the series.

I am reading the ghost at the dinner table right now. It is pretty good so far. The girls are into Junie B. Jones and Magic Tree House books. Daniel is reading a business communication text book.....seems interesting. LOL! I will have to look into the spookie series the girls would probably really like them!
I would love to check books out from the library, but I'm not willing to pay $45 for a silly library card! How can they call it a PUBLIC library when only the citizens of Crawfordsville can get free library cards?! I should go complain. I would gladly pay a few extra tax dollars to make in a COUNTY library! Ugh! Anyway, so I have been wanting to read and take the kids to check out books, but haven't b/c of the dumb library rule. I guess I'll just have to take them there and have them read a few while we are there. Anyway, I also am SO GLAD to get rid of that silly earthquake post! hee hee! :) Thanks again for watching the kids while I got some errands run!!!! You are such a great friend!
I'm jealous. I wish I had time to read right now. You think you'll have more time as your kids get older but I actually have less. One day I'll blink and they will be all grown up so I am going to enjoy my crazy life right now.
You are so busy, Cara, I dont know how you even have time to take a shower, let alone do anything dun and relaxing. When you do have time again, I will have a long list of good books for you to check out. Tanner would really like the Cat's Eye Corner ones, you should tell him about them. I think he would enjoy the Magyk series as well, but it might be one you would prefer to read first to see how you feel about it. I dont see any problem with it personally. But I am into fantasy books and magic books.
